What is Love

Without You Here

A Plea for Love

I haven't known you very long.
In time, I'll know you more.
But love is not a place or time.
It's shared by rich and poor.

Our love will grow and through each day
Small pleasures we can share.
And if you ever doubt my love;
Just look. It will be there.

Our love is strong and free of care.
Our troubles will be few.
And in our life, if anger comes,
Three words help..."I Love You".

Sweet tears of joy we both have cried
And through those tears, I see
My Love; My Life; My everything.
Please be my wife, baby.

I Love You, Ginger.

Your Husband, Larry

After the Loving

Exhausted, we lie there
Both spent from our passions.
Hands touching, caressing
The paths of our kisses.

The fluttering heartbeat
Subsides from near bursting,
Ebbs slowly each minute,
To intertwined sleep.

Perhaps there to dream of
Our intimate pleasure.
Through love we have given
Sweet memories to keep.

Warm, comforting closeness
Awakens beside me.
I gaze into eyes of
My love, and my friend.

Best

A Robin's song in early Spring;
The golden leaves of Fall;
A baby's laugh, a smile will bring;
They're lovely, one and all.

The morning dew on grass so green;
Like Nature's jewelry chest;
The Peacock, strutting like a Queen;
But baby, you're the best.

Without you, I could never be
No matter what the cost.
So spend your life within my arms.
The best should not be lost.

Come Back

One shadow now walks with me
Where two once tiptoed on soft feet
Like a Summer breeze.
Crepted quietly in fear
Of disturbing the tender thoughts
Shared freely by those ahead.

Two eyes search the crowds
For a small glimpse of one
So loved and needed.
Never seeing you and yet believing
To have done so a hundred times a day.

Two lips that smile
At remembered caresses
But tremble in silent floods of tears
Knowing what has past isn't today.
No soft warm kiss or loving word
When trouble comes.
Only dreams and wishes
Nothing more.

My heart knows no one so well
As it knows you.
Come home and fill my empty arms.
Soothe my crying soul
With your cherished love.

Day After Day

A lovely morning came at last
To wake us from the long night past.
A new Spring day for walking through
The soft green grass and sparkling dew.
An afternoon in shade, cool gray
Two lovers by the river lay.
An evening and the sun is through
Another day; I still love you!

Don't Forget

If love were a flower out under the sun,
A flower so fair and so fine.
Its perfume would sweeten the air of this earth;
And the finest would be yours and mine.

If love were a raindrop, so tiny and cool
Falling gently on soft fertile land.
Our world would be lovely with soft grass and trees
From the love I feel, touching your hand.

Our love has been mountains, so rocky and rough.
Our love has been sweet, sometimes, too.
Please never forget, though love's easy or hard.
Don't forget these three words, "I Love You".

Life's Gambit

On this board of life we play
Studied moves, watch what we say.
Guarded thoughts, we smother deep.
Feelings, to ourselves, we keep.

Must I guess? Please let me know
How to make your feelings grow
Into something sweet and strong.
Try a move that won't be wrong.

Kiss of fire when our lips meet.
Let me sweep you off your feet.
Share my life and I shall prove
How I love you. It's your move.

Shy Angel

Lonely, shy, with timid care
Strangers meeting in the night.
Reaching out for one to share,
One to walk with in the light.

Years I've waited, in control;
Searching for stability.
Sky blue mirrors of your soul
Set my love and feelings free.

Long forgotten dreams arise.
Needing love, afraid to start.
When I gaze into your eyes
Tender looks that heal my heart.

Angel, come into my life
With your eyes of Summer hue.
Be my lover and my wife.
I am on my knees for you.

Stay with me from year to year.
Love will grow each day and hour.
Now, I know it's true love, dear,
And I'm lost within your power.

Someone

Was someone there to hold you close
When you came home today?
Did someone care to listen to
The words you had to say?

A very special someone there
To wipe away your tears.
And were they there to share with you
Your joys and your fears?

You have that someone on your mind
No matter what you do.
You know they smile that secret smile
When they have thoughts of you.

If you have someone just like that
To give you love and care.
A life of sharing is the key
To keep your someone there.

Thoughts of Love

The simple thoughts of one you love
Like raindrops on a fertile ground
Can bring to you a cool fresh breeze
And rainbows too, spread all around.

It is within your heart you find
A world of peacefulness and song
Yes! In your heart and in your soul
The thoughts of love cannot be wrong.

Virginia

An Ode to My Wife

Gold tressed, as ripened wheat
O'er alabaster brow.
Strawberry smiles do greet
Mine eyes, and bless, somehow.

Thy beauty! Ache, my soul
That Fate, to me reward
Such treasure, as my dole.
'Twas thus inspired the Bard.

No sonnet, writ by hand
Nor song by man or bird
Compare to thee. Fire fanned
Heart leaps, though sadness gird.

Within your aura, blush
The flowers. Strive for naught
Song birds. In reverence, hush!
By envy all are caught.

Forsake me not, sweet love
Ere life has passed me by.
Nor die, to live above
The myriad starlit sky.

What is Love

Love isn't just a word to say
When you are having fun.
Love is the answer to all dreams;
The moon, the stars, the sun.

Love isn't sex, as most folks think
That passes in the night.
Love's everlasting, all the time.
Love makes all wrong seem right.

You being here as such a friend
I know I'm your friend too.
And maybe, as the months fly past
I can say, "I Love You".

You know, your thoughts of love as told
By your lips, yesterday.
Were my thoughts too, but I'm not bold.
I was afraid to say.

I love to share my smiles with you
And wipe away your tears.
I miss you when you're gone too long,
So throw out all your fears.

We both enjoy the simple life
And take what love can bring.
In many ways we think alike.
We both know, Love's the thing.

So if you ever fall in love
And leave me waiting here.
I hope he loves you just as much
As I love you, my dear.

Without You Here

I walked the shore in blush pink morn' to reminisce on life
As gentle breezes stroked the lake with nature's soft caress.
'Twas here we plucked the daffodils 'ere she became my wife.
Someone, I thought could never be, within my heart to bless.

The grass, bejeweled by morning dew, was mottled brown and green
Where Spring began to show her face adorned with flowers fair.
The air was crisp and full of sound from songbirds, sweet, unseen;
As I remembered how the sunlight glistened on her hair.

To find a gnarly, twisted branch to clean and beautify,
We'd search the waterline for remnants of old trees, long dead.
One, convoluted to extreme, arm pointing to the sky
Was used, where alter flowers could be placed, when vows we said.

Two lovers, strolling hand in hand; or Mallard chicks in line;
We often sat on shaded bench and watched this life parade.
Delighted by her touch, from one so loved, was bliss divine.
We marveled at the hand of God and all that He had made.

Today, as then, beside the lake, I smiled a sad goodbye"
And said a prayer for her return to my arms, with a sigh.
